Today China announced an additional $60 billion in retaliatory tariffs sure to keep squeezing Missouri workers and farmers — and Josh Hawley is yet again failing to stand up for Missouri.
President Trump is punishing farmers, manufacturers, and small businesses in Missouri with lower profits and higher costs. Missouri workers deserve candidates who will stand up for them against reckless policies, but Missouri Senate candidate Josh Hawley is continuing to back Trump. Meanwhile, one Missouri manufacturer has already cut dozens of jobs, and farmers and manufacturers are battening down the hatches in preparation for a worsening trade storm.
Last month in a radio interview, Hawley said, “I think the president is doing the right thing.”
That’s a gamble Missouri families can’t afford.
“The clock has run out for Missourians whose livelihoods are at risk. Can Josh Hawley continue to look hardworking Missourians in the eye and suggest this reckless behavior is ‘the right thing’?” said American Bridge spokesperson Amelia Penniman.“With every passing week that Hawley fails to stand up for Missourians, more families are reeling from the impact of this disastrous policy.”
