China Targets North Dakota Families With Even More Tariffs, But Kevin Cramer Fails to Stand Up For Them
Today China announced an additional $60 billion in retaliatory tariffs sure to keep squeezing North Dakota workers and farmers — and Kevin Cramer is yet again failing to stand up for North Dakotans.
President Trump is punishing farmers, manufacturers, and small businesses in North Dakota with lower profits and higher costs. North Dakotans deserve candidates who will stand up for them against reckless policies, but North Dakota Senate candidate Kevin Cramer is continuing to back Trump. Meanwhile, Trump’s reckless tariffs “threaten the livelihoods of local farmers and the state’s small manufacturing sector.” A 25% price drop in soybeans — North Dakota’s #1 export — has spurred a fully fledged crisis.
Last month in a TV interview, Cramer said, “Trump keeps impressing upon us that the longer we can negotiate, the better the deal will be…We want to reassure him that we are supportive of his goals.”
That’s a gamble North Dakota families can’t afford.
“The clock has run out for North Dakotans whose livelihoods are at risk. Can Kevin Cramer continue to look North Dakota farmers in the eye and suggest they wait a little longer for the trade conflict’s resolution?” said American Bridge spokesperson Amelia Penniman.“With every passing week that Cramer fails to stand up for North Dakotans, more families are reeling from the impact of this disastrous policy.”
